Eichardt’s Dollar Pint Night - Sandpoint

Each Thursday beer drinkers from all around town join together and hoist their mugs up as they enjoy dollar pint night at Eichardt’s. The dollar beer changes weekly so it’s always a surprise when you arrive. The night my friend and I went they offered PBR. I know you are thinking, that’s usually a dollar beer anyways. That may be but we witnessed a bit of history that night. This was the first time PBR was offered for dollar beer night according to the bartender. Oddly enough PBR had been requested by so many people Eichardt’s decided to make it the beer for the night. Luckily I was not disappointed by their choice and my friend and I ordered some pints!

Eichardt’s offers a great pub like experience. The walls are covered in old photos of Sandpoint and the ceiling is lined with keg handles, old skis and several other conversation starters. What my friend and I found most intriguing were the shelves lined with mugs behind the bar. I always knew these mugs belonged to people but I never knew how you got one. Luckily a friend of mine walked up and asked for her mug, so I asked her for the story. Once a year there is a mug party where the mugs owners can either renew their mug membership, for $40 a year, or the mug can be reissued to a new person. I guess if you like to drink out of a familiar glass this is a good solution.

Eichardt’s is not just a bar with a wide selection of beer but they also offer delicious food. In my opinion the garlic fries are to die for! The bar is a great place to catch up with friends over a pint or you can partake in a billiard game, or my personal favorite, tabletop shuffle board. The games are free, however you have to ask for the game pieces from the bartender and usually leave a bit of collateral, ie your driver’s licence, to help remind you to return what you have borrowed. The games are located upstairs, which is nice because it gives you a more quite setting, however you will need to go downstairs to order food or beverages.

If you would like to join in on the fun of dollar pint night at Eichardt’s it is every Thursday, starting at 9pm in the summer and 8pm during the winter. Eichardt’s is located at 212 Cedar Street. Parking can be found along the streets or side streets of Cedar. I would recommend showing up a little before pint night starts to get a table or seat at the bar.
