Girls night out in Sandpoint

We arrived at Café Trinity and we were greeted by the owner at the front door. He seated us on the back deck overlooking Sandcreek. It was a nice warm day, so outside seating was an excellent choice, however inside seating can be nice as well if you are looking for a more romantic location, or you can sit at a bar and watch the chef prepare your meal. I like Trinity because not only do they offer good food that is Cajun inspired, but also you can order from the Oishii Sushi bar that is connected next door.

Lost in the 50’s Parade!

Every year, on the weekend before Memorial Day in May, Sandpoint hosts a huge bash called Lost in the 50’s. It’s mostly about a car show featuring classic cars, but there are other happenings, too. There are a couple of street dances, a rock-n-roll concert, a rally-run, and more. Downtown is a pretty hoppin’ place, to say the least, during Lost in the 50’s weekend. If you’re interested in seeing the cars, but don’t really feel up to beating the crowds, sit back and enjoy the Vintage Car Parade.

Instant Date Night — Pend Oreille Pasta & Wine

that’s why I love getting dinner from Pend Oreille Pasta & Wine. Don’t let the modest exterior fool you. This quaint little store is chock full of surprises. And the best surprise, in my opinion, are the carry-out dinners.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort Tropical Daze

My friends and I attended Schweitzer’s last day open for the winter season this year, otherwise known as Tropical Daze. I was pretty excited about the festivities that were going to take place, a downhill dummy derby, the slush pond and music on the patio in front of Taps. It was looking to be a great day of fun. Parking was hard to find but I was delighted when they offered a free shuttle to the village from the lower parking lot, where we had parked.

Thor’s Pizza at Schweitzer Mountain Resort

Hidden just around the corner from the Mountain Market in Schweitzer’s Village is Thor’s Pizza. My friends and I stopped by after a long day of being ski bunnies at the mountain for, in my opinion, the best pizza on the mountain. Thor’s was filled with people enjoying their pizza, beer and the scenic views from the large picture windows. Our group followed suit and ordered a pitcher of beer and an 8 slice cheese pizza for about $25. Thor’s also offers pizza by the slice ranging between $3 to $4, depending on your toppings. A selection of beers and sodas are also available to go along with their delicious pizza.

The Outback Inn at Schweitzer Mountain Resort

The Outback Inn is found on the backside of the Schweitzer Mountain Resort by chair 5, otherwise known as Stella. As one of the few structures left at Schweitzer that has not been recently remodeled, The Outback gives patrons a step back in time, with the feeling of a true ski lodge. The Outback provides skiers a convenient location to stop for a quick bite to eat or a ski in, ski out restroom break. If you are stopping for food you can leave your skis or snow board outside on the racks provided.
