I have always wanted to try snowshoeing and this year was going to be the year that I tried it. I started shopping around for a set of shoes and remembered my dad had an extra pair. I suggested to him to let me have the extra pair and I could try them out. He agreed and brought me the snowshoes. I thought it would be a good idea, since I was new to the sport, to try them out somewhere easy before I started trekking off on some long adventure

Eichardt’s K-9 Keg Pull - Winter Carnival
Each year during the winter carnival Eichardt’s holds it’s annual K-9 Keg Pull. This was the first year I had gone, but I have always wanted to go, I just had never made it to the event. The Keg Pull starts at 10am, so my friends and I showed up about 10 minutes early. We [...]
Bowling fun in Sandpoint
I probably go bowling once every five years and this year I amazingly had three opportunities all in the same weekend. As I stepped into the bowling alley I instantly flashed back a few years to when I use to go there on lunch during highschool to play air hockey with my friends. Although I still do enjoy classic arcade games, today I was there to bowl.
It’s Winter – Get Growing Anyway
Local nurseries have already begun receiving stock of plants and seeds. Don’t forget to check there first for the bulk of your gardening supplies. Until then, it never hurts to dream. Here is a quick look at a few of the best catalogs and online sources for plants and seeds.
Snowmobiling at Priest Lake
I read my horoscope for the day and it said “do not let fear get in the way of trying new things today”. Ironically the day I read this was the day my boyfriend had asked me to go snowmobiling with him and his family.
Hunting Christmas Trees in Sandpoint, Idaho
Mind you, it isn’t that we object to supporting the Christmas tree industry, but our last two farm-grown trees cost us seventy bucks apiece. And there should be more to choosing a tree than coming home from work one afternoon, bundling everyone into the car, hustling down the road to a farm, letting someone else cut your tree (what’s that all about?), stuffing the hapless evergreen into the back of the vehicle and hurrying home again.
No, we decided that if we could beat the snow into the woods this year, we’d revive a family tradition.
Mushrooms (And Other Cheap Entertainment) in Sandpoint, Idaho
For some things, you just have to get down on your belly.
Autumn brings some phenomenal changes to the Idaho Panhandle, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by grand vistas and calendar-ready sunsets. If you shorten your focal plane just a bit, you’ll zero in on leaves pirouetting to earth and the glow of slanted rays coursing through old oaks, maples, and elms.
Pend d’ Oreille Bay Trail - Sandpoint
On a breezy fall day my family and I decided to take a walk along the shoreline of Lake Pend ‘d Oreille near the train station. We drove past The Seasons, giving a friendly wave to the security guard as we passed (the road is a public right away so there is no reason to stop) and found a gravel parking lot just past the water treatment building. We found several signs that points to the trail head, which begins along the railroad tracks, and began our walk.
Jam On It
In this article, I’ll give you a basic introduction to what is called water-bath canning, a method best suited to high acid foods.
Sandpoint High School Football - Go Bulldogs!
“Here We Go Bulldogs, Here We Go”, is a familiar chant you will hear around Memorial Field any given Friday night during highschool football season. It was Friday night and homecoming so my friends and I headed down to the field to catch the game.
